Would a missing rechargeable fire extinguisher tag be considered a missing fire extinguisher or
expired as the inspector is unable to determine at time of inspection?

YES – but, if one or two rechargeable extinguishers are missing a tag, but you can immediately show the
inspector paperwork that shows you had them all serviced, the inspector may disregard this.
I would not count on that. I would try to make sure we have no missing tags. This is a very high scoring
defect. I recommend going to extreme measures to assure that there is no defect.
For missing tags, we have won appeals where we got the fire extinguisher contractor to sign a letter
attesting to the fact that they serviced all the extinguishers shortly before the REAC inspection and -
after the fact - found evidence that the missing tag was torn off after their service – but again, I do not
like to depend on appeals.
